Superyacht Courses For 2024 In Cape Town

The year has started with a bang. Our first weeks back have seen our classes filled with excited, eager and enthusiastic young people, all aiming to find work in the Superyacht industry abroad.

At this time of year, our most common courses are the deckhand courses. These deckhand courses are run over either 4 or 5 weeks from our comfortable and well-equipped facilities in Hout Bay, Cape Town. These deckhand courses will equip anyone interested in following a career within the superyacht industry, with the basic, necessary skills and requirements to start looking for work.

This industry offers something for almost everyone. The boats are luxurious, sophisticated, complex units which require constant attention to every detail.

There are deck and bridge teams who ensure not only the safe passage of the vessels, its passengers and crew, as they cruise the seas, but also ensure that the boats remain in the tip-top condition  found only on superyachts.

Interior teams of stewards and stewardesses ensure that the inside of the yacht is kept up to 7 star comfort and style, thereby ensuring the absolute comfort expected by the guests. Highly qualified and experienced chefs offer fine dining cuisine and meals which are expected by the rich and famous. They also prepare the food which keeps the crew nourished and happy, making sure they are able to function as required, sometimes under very difficult conditions.

Engineers and their teams are there, constantly checking, maintaining, or servicing the multitude of mechanical and electrical components on board. These systems are critical to ensuring that the vessel functions as required, and therefore, the engineering department serve a very often unseen, but vital role in the running of the vessel.

Each individual department, whether it be bridge, deck, engine, or interior obviously has a person in charge, making sure that the different departments run like well oiled machines. All the departments however, ultimately work together forming a unique and highly equipped and motivated team to ensure the efficient running of these highly luxurious superyachts.
