Getting Started with Job Hunting

The yachting industry is unique. Jobs aren’t only advertised online; they are often filled through networking, dock-walking, and word-of-mouth. That said, there are reliable online platforms to begin your search.

Online Job Boards

– Yotspot: One of the largest online platforms for yachting jobs and training.
– Yacrew: Aggregates job postings across many agencies worldwide.
– Bluewater: Offers job listings and training for crew at all levels.

Agency Job Listings

Recruitment agencies often maintain their own portals where jobs are listed daily. Viking Crew, Wilsonhalligan, Crew Network and Quay Crew all update their sites regularly.

Networking & Dock Walking

In places like Antibes, Palma, and Fort Lauderdale, many entry-level jobs are filled by simply walking the docks and handing out CVs. Crew houses and local bars are also common networking spots.

Social Media

More yachts are starting to post jobs directly on Facebook groups or LinkedIn. Following the right groups can give you an edge (see separate post).

Tips for Success

Always keep your CV updated and professional. Follow up applications with polite emails. And most importantly, be present in the main crew hubs during peak hiring seasons. This ads significant value to your potential for being appointed for a position abroad.
